In 2013, Hillcrest Trust in partnership with Derry City and Strabane District Council developed a master plan that provided a long range vision for the regeneration of the Top of the Hill area and in particular, the grounds of the former Immaculate Conception College and Corrody Road Country Park.
This plan includes:
- A new community facility;
- Social & Affordable Housing;
- A Gaelic Pitch;
- Grass Playing Pitches as well as a play area and associated infrastructure.
On 1st October 2018 funding was confirmed for commencement of the new Community Centre in the Top of the Hill!
The Board of Directors and staff of Hillcrest Trust welcome the announcement from Derry and Strabane District Council and the Department of Communities for funding to develop a modern, new community facility. This is a great boost for the Top of the Hill and Waterside area.
GAA pitch on Corrody Road
Construction of the pitch commenced in May 2018. During the construction period Gypsy’s Lane will be closed to the public.
Waterside Shared Village (Capital Programme)
Work on the regeneration of the old Clondermott School site is ongoing in partnership with Derry City and Strabane District Council and Irish Street Community Association. The development will create a full size grass pitch for Gaelic games, a 3G synthetic soccer pitch, tennis courts, synthetic cricket wickets and a ‘community hub’.
The Apex housing development is moving on quickly and houses have now started being allocated and residents moving in. The last phase is due to take place early in the New Year.
